AS Academy Denies, clean sweep to keep the series 2-1

The final match of the best of the 3 Friendship series was concluded yesterday on 15th Jan 2022 and this was the first best of 3 between the two AS Academy and Riyadh Mavericks.

We witnessed some exciting cricket from the youth and both sides worked hard over the last 3 weeks, first to play on a proper ground and then to perform to the best of their abilities which was witnessed by all the parents who came out to support their son.
Toss won by AS Academy and decided to bat first in the overcast weather, as it had been raining the whole night but the ground was fine to play as per the official umpires.

Fahad Minir 126 off 67 balls with 13 Fours

Saud Rehat 22

Fahad Munir opened the batting with Saud Rehat and both played well as the 1st wicket partnership was for 112 before Saud (22) was out and Saad Shakir joined and provided some support to the total and he was also out for 18.

It was Fahad Munir to play some outstanding shots and to make sure the total on the board is good enough to defend and he was in the form and made his 1st century of 126 off 67 balls with 13 fours at the strike rate of 188.06.  This was his best innings since he has been with AS Academy.
AS Academy scored 190/5 off 20 overs and Riyadh Mavericks bowling, it was Prajwal Srinivas who took 2 wickets and Saaduddin and Sashwath taking 1 wicket each.

In reply, Riyadh Mavericks didn’t get the start they were looking for as Rehan Siddique was caught by Yousuf who was playing his 1st match and this put pressure on Riyadh Mavericks.  Samrudth and Abdul Hai Pasha played well before Samrudth was runout by a direct hit from Mohammed Abdullah and the next ball Abdul Hai Pasha run out from a throw from the boundary from Fahad Zafar that put all the pressure on the lower order.
It was Azain Shakeeb and Saaaduddin Ikram who managed to push the total but turning point when Saaduddin was retired out for 20.

Sashwath and Azain playesd some good shots but Azain was caught and bowled by Fahad Zafar, this is another point when the the game was heading towards AS Academy.  Fahad removed Mazin the next ball and he was on hat-trick but couldn’t get with his great yokers which meant that AS Academy won the match by 16 runs and to finish with a win to make the series 2-1.
