The friendship series between AS Academy and Riyadh Mavericks, 2nd match was won in style by Mavericks. Abdul Hai has been in form in the last game continued performing well and scored 77 before he was retired out to give other players a chance as well but this didn’t stop Rehan who also went on to score 55 before he was also retired out. Azain and Sashwath in good nick smashed all over the ground to score 24 and Sashwath 28 of 11 gave a massive total of 250/5 in 20 overs. Bowling of AS Academy was not up to the mark and only Saad Shakir was able to take the wicket. There were few chances that could have made a difference but credit goes to the youth Mavericks how they played. In reply to the total, there was some good shots played by AS Academy batters but were not able to do as well as Muneeb went for 13 and it was Fahad Zafar and Saud Rehat played well to push the score although they were below the required NRR. Fahad Zafar was LBW for 20 and Saad Shakir who has been in good form, was great to watch as he smashed the ball all over the ground and scored 87 of 50 balls and he was supported by Fahad Munir 24 off 14 balls and the team managed to get 206/5 in 20 overs. The man of the match was given to both Abdul Hai Pasha and Sadd Shakir for their outstanding display and parents and players enjoyed watching them. At the presentation, Aasif Sheikh requested the mother of Abdul Hai Pasha to award has sone the man of the match and this was the first time everyone actually witness as most of the times other known dignities give and poeple forget the parents especially the mothers. The series is won by Riyadh Mavericks 2-0 and final match is expected to be on 15th Jan 2021 which will include the presentation along with the awards for the youth as: Best Batsman Best Bowler Player of the tournament. Special thanks to Mr Nadeem Siddqui who has been discussing the matches with Aasif Sheikh for sometimes and they came up with the idea to start with best of 3 series to give the boys exposure to the grounds and further to have different tournaments for the youth development. |
