Youth unbeaten & champions of the Senior Cricket Tournament


AS Academy arranged a Senior Cricket Tournament in which 4 teams took part and of them, one was the AS-Youth-Cheetah team formed from AS Academy.
The tournament was played on 25th Dec, 2021 with the format of 6-an-over and each team to play round-robin where the top 2 teams will qualify for the final.
Aasif Sheikh the chairman of AS Academy said “I am very pleased with the Youth team winning the tournament and also thank full to all the support we have received for this tournament from the sponsors and hope such tournaments will encourage the seniors to play more”.
Considering the timing of the tournament and making sure that everything is completed in the allotted time, all teams coordinated well to make this tournament a memorial one and looking forward to have more of such tournaments in the coming year.

1st match was played between AS-Shaheens v Welcome Group and both teams played a good game.  Toss was won by Welcome Group decided to ball first and AS-Shaheen managed to score 50 and were all out in 5,4 overs.  Only Raja Nasir 19 and Muzammil Misbah 14 were the main contributors and there were 11 extras.  Mohammed Ali the captain of Welcome Group took 2 wickets and Naseer Husain took 1 others were run-out.
In reply, Welcome group achieved the target in 4.1 overs scoring 55 and Imran Ahmed 31 with Naseer Husain 14 gave them the victory by 3 wickets.
Kamran Rasheed, Raja Nasir and Ashak Khan took 1 wicket each.
 

Man of the match was Imran Ahmed.
 
2nd Match which was played between AS-Falcon and AS-Shaheens and after winning the toss AS-Falcon decided to bat first.  Brining in the experience, Captain Kashif Bajwa scored 28 and he was well supported by Munir Ahmed Shad who scored 15 not out to have the score of 61-1 in 6 overs.
In reply, AS-Shaheens struggled to chase the total as Munir Ahmed Shad was in good form of bowling as he took 4 wickets for 4 runs to demolish AS-Shaheen and they could only manage 41 runs with captain Amir Javed scored 10 runs but there were 15 extras from AS-Falcon.

3rd Match, was played between AS-Falcon vs AS-Youth-Cheetah and after winning the toss AS-Youth decided to bowl first.  It was not the start they wanted to have as they lost quick wicket but Rehat Qazi smashed 27 not out to get to decent total of 53 and Mohammed Mohsin took 2 wickets with Fahad Munir, Saud Rehat and Fahad Zafar taking 1 wicket each.
In reply AS-Youth started off well with Mubeeb-ur-Rahman scored 20 and Fahad Zafar 10 before they lost 3 wickets and once again Munir Ahmed Shad took 2 wickets and Zahid Mohammed taking 1.  AS-youth won the match by 3 wickets and they chased the total in 5.2 overs.

4th Match was played between Welcome Group and AS-Youth-Cheetah and Welcome won the toss and decided to bat first.  A-Youth was too strong from Welcome Group as they restricted them for 33 runs which Fahad Munir, Mohammad Abduallah, Saud Rehat, Fahad Zafar taking 1 wicket each although they gave 11 extras been the highest scorer and from the team it was Mohammed Ali and Rafiq Hasan scoring 7 runs each.
In Reply, AS-Youth chased the total in 3.2 overs with Saad Shakir and Fahad Munir making sure they play sensibly to take the lead by winning both games.

5th Match was played between AS-Falcon and Welcome Group and after winning the toss, Welcome decided to bowl first.  Once again, AS-Falcon couldn’t get the start they wanted as they lost quick wickets and once again it was Rehat Qazi who scored 16 to get the total to 47.
In reply, AS-Falcon tried and the match was anyone game until Naseer Husain 18 and Rafiq Hasan 8 managed to get the over the line in 4.2 overs with the loss of 4 wickets.

 Man of the match was Naseer Husain.
 
The final was played between AS-Youth-Cheetah and Welcome Group, and Welcome Group won the toss and decided to field, although AS-Youth also wanted to field but they used the best players to open the innings with Saad Shakir and Fahad Munir and both were outstanding but not taking any risk and they scored 101 without any wicket loss and this was the highest score of the tournament along with Saad Shakir also scoring the first half-century with 6 sixes in his innings and Fahad Munir scored 31 with 4 fours and 3 sixes.
In reply, Welcome Group struggled as they last Naseer Husain in the 1st over and the wickets kept falling at the right times for AS-Youth and they restricted the Welcome Group to 49 and it was Fahad Zafar, Muneeb-ur-Rahman taking 1 wicket each whereas Fahad Munir took 2 to win the match by 52 runs.

Furthermore, there were awards for the Best Bowler, Best Batter and All-Rounder
